Malnutrition is more than just hunger or a lack of food. It is a serious and often life-threatening medical condition caused by a diet lacking in essential calories, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals.
Babies and young children are particularly vulnerable to the disease if their mothers are unable to introduce sufficient food into their child’s diet whilst weaning them off breast milk. This time between the age of six months and two years is one of rapid growth, when a diet lacking in essential nutrients can have a serious and profound impact on a child’s long-term health and development.
But they are helpless. They can’t afford to buy the food that they are supposed to take. So we want to help these pregnant women sending medical doctors from our church to give them counseling and necessary medicines and also supply them right food until they give birth to the child. They need our support even after giving birth to child. So we want to help them even after they give birth if possible for 15 months.
