Nutrition for pregnant women

The significance of proper nutrition for pregnant women and fetal development cannot be understated. Having a nutritious diet during pregnancy is linked to good fetal brain development, a healthy birth weight, and it reduces the risk of many birth defects. But due to nutritional deficiencies and lack of medical support, many pregnant women in India suffer from increased risk of maternal and neonatal mortality, anemia, low birth weight of child and other long term health problems for mother and child.

Public policies have given special emphasis to this issue but the results have not been satisfactory. To complement government's efforts, Sharon Seva ministries started 'Nutrition for pregnant women' project, working among the women from lower socio-economic status where the nurtitional deficiencies are observed to be quiet high.

Every year, we provide such pregnant women with nutrition and nutritional supplements, counselling and regular consultation with a gynaecologist to ensure a safe delivery and healthy mother and baby.
